    San Francisco I

It’s been almost three weeks since I returned from my four week jaunt around the USA, Mexico and Cuba. In truth though, calling it a mere jaunt really doesn’t do it any justice, maybe dream adventure is a more accurate. Either way, it certainly gave me some memories that I will cherish forever.

I had always planned on doing a trip like this at some point, road-tripping North America with a couple of mates, getting into all sorts of mischief. As it turned out, two of my oldest friends had been planning a trip doing almost exactly that. Unfortunately though, it looked like I was not going to be able to join them as I had other commitments in my life that took higher priority. I’ve said it before though, life is a strange creature and it seems to always have this way of taking sudden turns when you least expect it. So all of a sudden I found myself in a position where I could feasible join them for what would turn out to be an adventure of a lifetime.

    Our first stop, San Francisco.

I’m sure many a person has slowly retraced their steps after distractedly walking past a wall in order to investigate that odd mark that their subconscious registered on their peripheral vision only to discover it was a Huntsman, legs splayed all eight eyes focused intently on them.

This particular one scared the bejeezles out of my ex-girlfriend after climbing up her screen door. After I carefully transplanted her onto one of the Frangipani leaves out the back (the spider, not the ex) I grabbed my camera and started nervously framing some shots. Huntsmans present no serious risk to humans but they can still give a nasty bite.

    Gods Confetti

Autumn has well and truly fallen like a golden blanket over North Vancouver bringing with it captivating hues ranging from sunfire yellow to go-fast red and everything in between. In an attempt to immortalise what looks to be my first and only deciduous event in Canada I have been out for walks over the last couple of weekends to try and shoot some scenes which I think represent autumnal North Vancouver as seen through my perspective as an outsider.
